How do we as Action Sheroes prepare ourselves to navigate social structures that victim blame while accessing our rights as citizens/ persons to justice after experiencing sexual or gender based violence?

An Action Shero is a person who takes agency to end sexual and gender based violence. An Action Shero Citizen or person,  learns about her rights as provided to her by the Indian constitution and claims them.

We are thrilled to associate with Nyaaya with first phase of our new project :

The Action Shero’s Guide To Accessing Gender Justice
Becoming the Action Shero Citizen

Answer the following in yes or no.
If you answered yes, even once, this project is for you.

  1. Have you ever been in a situation where you have been afraid to access the law in the face of injustice?

  2. Have you ever faced injustice and felt helpless, and taught yourself to forget about what happened, but really could not ?

  3. How often have you felt ready to access legal justice but did not due to the fear of being disbelieved?

  4. How often have you felt ready to access legal justice but did not know where to really begin ? And as a result, did not take the next step.

  5. Have you ever been in a situation where you recognised an injustice but you did not know whether the law could support you or if you were protected by the law?

  6. Have you ever been in the situation where even though you know you are protected by the law you have been dissuaded from taking any legal steps because the process is too long?

  7. Have you ever had a friend turn to you for legal and emotional support in the face of gender based injustice but did not know how to support her/ them ?

  8. Have you ever gone to report violence, but turned away or were turned away after being judged and shamed?

‘The Action Shero’s Guide To Accessing Justice’
is a step towards claiming our legal rights while navigating structures of patriarchy and victim blame. It serves to be that informed friend that you wish you had. It proposes to be an accessible resource of information, knowledge and care built for and by your inquiries.

We at Blank Noise commit to facilitating dialogues via campaigns, events, groups discussions on multiple platforms and build this knowledge resource together.
This project will take shape through participatory processes and create knowledge products. It could take the form of a story, a podcast, video programmes, an illustrated comic book series or more.

Let’s gently nudge ourselves and each other from feeling helpless, to knowing our right as a citizen and persons. We are focussing on 3 broad areas of injustice , especially in the context of victim blame and the #INeverAskForIt mission

To be part of this project in any capacity including communications, partnerships, testimonial building, write to us.
